Sexual Content and Nudity Policy
This policy explains what sexual content and nudity is and isn't allowed on Xiam, across Debates, Discover videos, Stories, comments, profiles, and messages.
This policy works alongside, and does not override, our Child Safety Standards Policy. Any content involving minors is governed exclusively by that policy's zero-tolerance standard, regardless of anything in this document.
Definitions
- Nudity: Visual exposure of genitals, anus, or fully exposed female nipples.
- Sexual Content: Content depicting, promoting, or facilitating sexual acts, or intended primarily to cause sexual arousal.
- Partial Nudity: Limited exposure that does not meet the definition of explicit nudity.
1. Prohibited Content
Xiam prohibits:
- Pornography and explicit sexual acts — visual depictions of sexual intercourse, masturbation, or other explicit sexual activity
- Genital, anal, or fully exposed female nipple imagery outside of the limited exceptions in Section 3
- Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn") — sharing or threatening to share someone's intimate images without their consent
- Sexual deepfakes — Xiam prohibits sexual deepfakes, digitally manipulated intimate imagery, and AI-generated sexual content that depicts a real, identifiable person without their consent, regardless of whether the content appears realistic
- Commercial sexual services — advertising, soliciting, or facilitating prostitution or commercial sexual services
- Sexualized minors — strictly prohibited in all cases; see our Child Safety Standards Policy
- Bestiality or other content depicting non-consensual or illegal sexual conduct
Prohibited Sexual Solicitation
Xiam prohibits:
- Soliciting explicit images from users
- Coercing users into sexual activity
- Offering money or benefits in exchange for sexual content
- Attempting to obtain intimate images through deception, threats, or manipulation
2. Restricted but Not Automatically Removed
Some content involving partial nudity or sexual themes may be allowed with restrictions (such as being excluded from Discover recommendations, age-restricted, or accompanied by a content warning) rather than outright removal, including:
- Suggestive but non-explicit imagery (e.g., swimwear, fitness content)
- Sexual topics discussed in a debate context without graphic visual depiction
3. Limited Exceptions
The following may be permitted, evaluated in context:
- Medical or health content — breastfeeding, medical illustrations, post-mastectomy or other health-related imagery
- Educational content — sex education presented in a non-explicit, informational manner
- Artistic content — paintings, sculpture, or other recognized art forms depicting nudity in a non-explicit, non-gratuitous manner
- Newsworthy content — imagery genuinely necessary to report on a significant news event, presented with appropriate context and warnings
These exceptions are evaluated case by case and do not apply automatically just because content is labeled "educational" or "artistic." Context, intent, and presentation matter. Exceptions are interpreted narrowly: content that appears designed primarily for sexual gratification will not qualify merely because it is labeled educational, artistic, or newsworthy.
4. How We Enforce This Policy
- Uploaded photos and videos are scanned by automated content-safety systems before or shortly after publication
- Flagged content may be sent for human review, restricted in distribution, or removed depending on severity and confidence level
- Repeated violations result in escalating enforcement, up to permanent account ban
- Content involving non-consensual intimate imagery or sexual deepfakes is removed immediately upon confirmation and may result in immediate suspension while we investigate, given the harm such content causes to the depicted person
- We may prioritize reports submitted by individuals who identify themselves as the depicted person or their authorized representative, and may remove such content immediately where credible evidence of non-consensual distribution exists
- Xiam may temporarily remove or restrict access to content while an investigation is ongoing where there is a credible risk of harm, exploitation, or privacy violations
- Users may not evade sexual-content enforcement actions by creating new accounts or using other accounts after suspension or ban
Direct Messages
Xiam may investigate direct messages when they are reported by participants, flagged by automated safety systems, or where required to address child safety, fraud, or other serious violations. We do not actively monitor all private messages.
5. Reporting
You can report any post, Story, comment, or profile for nudity or sexual content using the in-app reporting tool. If you are the subject of non-consensual intimate imagery or a sexual deepfake posted on Xiam, please report it immediately and, where possible, identify yourself as the subject so we can prioritize review.
6. Appeals
If your content was removed and you believe this policy was applied incorrectly, you can appeal through the process described in our Enforcement and Appeals Policy.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as Xiam's features and community standards evolve. Material changes will be noted in-app.
