Advertising and Sponsored Content Policy

[DORMANT CLAUSE] This policy applies only once Xiam introduces advertising or sponsored content features. It confers no rights or obligations until such features are live. As of this policy's drafting, Xiam does not display third-party advertisements in the app. Xiam will provide notice in-app and update the Effective Date above when this policy becomes active.

This policy will govern advertising and sponsored/branded content on Xiam once such features are introduced.

1. Current Status

Xiam does not currently display third-party advertisements. This policy is published in advance of any such feature so the framework is ready, and so users and creators understand what will be expected if and when advertising launches.

2. Future Advertising Standards (Dormant)

If and when Xiam introduces advertising, we intend that ads will:

• Be clearly labeled as advertising or sponsored content, distinguishable from organic content
• Comply with all applicable advertising standards and consumer protection law in the jurisdictions where they are shown
• Not be targeted based on sensitive categories (such as inferred health conditions, sexual orientation, or religious belief) in ways prohibited by applicable law
• Not promote content that would otherwise violate Xiam's Community Guidelines (e.g., no ads for illegal goods, sexual content, or dangerous organizations)

Prohibited Advertising Categories (Future)

Xiam reserves the right to prohibit or restrict advertisements relating to:

• Illegal goods or services
• Pornographic or sexually explicit material
• Dangerous organizations or extremist content
• Fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading products or services
• Gambling, alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, or age-restricted products, except where permitted by applicable law and Xiam's policies
• Products or services targeting minors in an inappropriate manner
• Any advertisement inconsistent with Xiam's Community Guidelines or applicable law

3. Future Sponsored/Branded Content Rules (Dormant)

If Xiam allows Creators to post sponsored or branded content (content created in exchange for payment or other consideration from a third party), we intend to require:

• Clear disclosure that the content is sponsored (e.g., a visible label)
• Compliance with applicable advertising disclosure law (such as Nigeria's Advertising Regulatory Council requirements, where applicable, and equivalent rules in other markets where Xiam operates)
• That sponsored content otherwise complies with all Xiam content policies

4. Data Use for Advertising (Dormant)

If Xiam introduces targeted advertising in the future, our Privacy Policy will be updated to disclose what data is used for ad targeting, and users will be given applicable choices and controls required by law at that time. We will not retroactively use historically collected data for advertising purposes without updating our Privacy Policy and providing appropriate notice.

If targeted advertising is introduced, Xiam intends to provide users with appropriate controls over advertising preferences and, where required by law, consent mechanisms or opt-out choices regarding personalized advertising. Data collected before the launch of advertising features will not be repurposed for personalized advertising without an updated Privacy Policy and any notice, consent, or legal basis required by applicable law.

5. Suspension or Discontinuation of Advertising Programs

Xiam reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any advertising, sponsored content, or creator-brand partnership programs at any time, subject to applicable law.

6. Political Advertising (Future)

If Xiam permits political advertising in the future, additional policies governing disclosure, transparency, advertiser verification, and record-keeping may apply and will be published separately.

7. Status

This policy is currently dormant and has no operative effect. It will be activated, and users notified through an update to this policy and our Privacy Policy, when Xiam introduces advertising or sponsored content features.
